With the wind whipping around us, we ventured out on into the blustery day with hopes of returning home victorious from the egg hunt. And it was, quite possibly, Sawyer's most successful egg hunt to-date. His speed helped him fill his Spider-Man pail quickly, and his wariness helped him avoid altercations with any of the other children who were equally eager to fill their buckets and baskets. Thankfully, since it was chilly and windy, the egg scramble (as it should more appropriately be called) was assembled, begun, and completed within 10 minutes. We skirted the meet and greet with the enormous, creepy Easter bunny impersonator and instead decided to spend our time waiting out the traffic in our car while shoveling candy into our mouths.
Then came the Easter baskets. I may have gone a bit overboard this year, but both of my babes' birthdays are around Christmas, so I don't get a reasonable excuse to shower them with presents at any other time of year, so I'm thinking that it just may be that Easter is a loaded holiday around these parts. We spent the better part of the afternoon and stole some time from the early evening, opening our presents and exploring them one by one. Sawyer directed all the fun and gave each present its due attention before moving on and unwrapping another. Elouise was just happy to be out of the wind and comfortably back inside with plentiful entertainment provided for her by all her family.
