Beachtime Firsts

Sawyer rode his first two-wheel bike at the beach!

Jeff taught Sawyer how to swim on his own and it turned him into one independent, very happy, fish.

We cruised around in our family "SUV," with everyone happy- no eye pokes, elbowing, or footsie.

We took the babies to the light house and Sawyer and Jeff climbed all the way to the top.  It's 220 steep steps! Also, though you usually pay to climb all those stairs, Sawyer and Jeff got to climb for free!

Bringing our babies to the beach is so amazing.  Each year they make the experience brand new and add even more excitement to an already highly anticipated week. Their sense of discovery and individual growth, changes, and personality make family vacations like this so much fun.

This year they were excellent road trippers. They slept great in the hotel room, and even better at the beach house.  Sawyer slept in a room all by himself but then got a tiny beach cold (that's a thing right? from sun and too much pool water, I'm sure that's an accurate diagnosis there) so we moved his mattress into our king-sized suite and made him a cozy nook in an open corner,  Elouise rested easy in pack and play in the master bath and I was so glad one morning to have her right in the bathroom for easy clean-up, because when she woke up covered in throw up. I was so upset! I nearly cried and felt so terrible that she was such a mess. We didn't know what made her sick at the time, we thought sun overdose maybe, so we kept her covered on the beach and well rested and full of fluids and she was fine. Later, the flu hit some other vacationers, explaining Lou's sickness and was a beach time first that can go without a repeat.

All our other beach time firsts were perfectly pleasant.
